Drunk Newton Teen Crashes Car; Friends Flee, Cops Say

The 18-year-old was charged while being treated at Newton-Wellesley Hospital, police said.

Police said a drunk teenager crashed his car on Wiswall Road Tuesday—and two of his friends riding in the vehicle fled the scene.

The 18-year-old male was charged with OUI, alcohol possession, having an open alcohol container in a vehicle, operating to endanger, and speeding. He was charged while being treated at Newton-Wellesley Hospital, according to a police report. His name was not released.

Police said his two male friends fled down Walsh Road toward the Saw Mill Brook Parkway. When police arrived at the scene, the teen was “unsteady on his feet and had bloodshot, glassy eyes,” according to a police report.

Police were immediately unable to locate his two friends.
