Off-Duty Lifeguard Becomes Random Hero at Newton Pool: Report
John Riker was working the front desk at BSC when he helped save an unconscious girl over the weekend, according to a Fox25 report.
NEWTON, MA – John Riker may have been off-duty Saturday, but a sudden emergency at Boston Sports Club in Newton prompted his lifeguard training to kick in, according to a Fox25 report.
Riker, who usually works as a lifeguard at BSC, was slated to work the front desk that day. But when he arrived, one of the other employees shouted at him to "call 911," Riker told the network.
He saw a little girl unconscious across the pool and rushed over to perform CPR, Fox25 reported. He said though "everyone was doing their job," his "instinct" kicked in.
