Environmental Leaders Endorse Ruthanne Fuller For Mayor Of Newton

NEWTON, MA — A group of local environmental leaders have officially endorsed incumbent Ruthanne Fuller in the race for mayor of Newton, according to a news release from Fuller's office.

The endorsements come after the United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report on the most recent changes in our environment and Fuller's recent announcement that she supports new developments and renovations to be fueled by electricity.

The following individuals have endorsed Fuller's reelection campaign, citing her actions to address climate change:

“When it comes to environmental issues facing Newton, Mayor Fuller has an impressive record of proven leadership," said Cooper in a statement. In her term as Mayor, she has overseen the development of Newton’s first-ever Climate Action Plan, and implemented Newton Power Choice. Solar installations on municipal properties and a city fleet that is all electric indicate more progress, as well as the hiring of Newton’s first Energy Coach to assist residents in navigating home energy efficiency upgrades."

"Mayor Fuller will most definitely keep the momentum going at a rapid rate for our city to address the urgency of climate change,” she continued.

Fuller's most recent actions in the name of protecting the environment include removing the heating oil tank from the Auburndale Community Library, which has been converted into a fully electric, and completing a fossil fuel-free addition to the Oak Hill Middle School.

“Whether acting globally to make Newton a leader on climate change, or locally to preserve valuable open space, Ruth Ann Fuller is a committed, creative Mayor who has kept her promises and gotten big things done,” said Kimmell in a statement.
