
A native from Lexington, MA, Rick Scalise was selected as solo pianist for the Greater Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra for the 1991-92 seasons. He has performed in Berlin, Prague and Salzburg. Mr. Scalise has been Accompanist and Music Director for several musical productions since 1988. Most recently he was Associate Music Director for the Reagle Players in Waltham. Mr. Scalise graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance and Composition from Boston University. Compositions include: various piano works, songs on texts by Poe, several works for String Orchestra, a Piano Concerto, and a work for women’s choir, piano and Orchestra. He is the Accompanist/Music Director for “Mass Hysteria” (Fall 1996-present). He performs weekly at various establishments as a solo classical pianist. He is a private piano teacher at the Lexington Pops Chorus, and Organist for St. Theresa’s Church. He was elected a member of the Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honor Society in 1998 and graduated summa cum laude from Boston University with a Master’s degree in Composition that same year. Mr. Scalise has recently released his first CD, Virtuoso Piano Solos, which include his works by Liszt, Rachmaninoff, Chopin, Moszkowski, Pieczonka and Monti.
