EXHBIT OPENING: This exhibit examines a sometimes forgotten instituion, slavery in Massachusetts -- during colonial times and after the American Revolution -- until it was oulawed in the late 18th-century. It also highlights some unsung Newton abolitionists and others who dealt with the legacy of slavery. This is a family-friendly exhibition, complete with artifacts and audio and interactive components.
