Newton resident and independent producer Rusty Thompson will premiere her trailer for her debut documentary No Equal: The Trials of America’s Female Soldier on Thursday, June 21, 2012 at the West Newton Cinema in West Newton, MA at 7pm. Seating is limited to 225 persons and admission is free.
Through candid testimonials and archival news footage, No Equal examines the historic and the contemporary challenges facing women in the US military.
Over the course of three years, Rusty conducted numerous interviews with military personnel, from WWII field nurses to active-duty soldiers currently serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, to weave an intricate portrait of the female soldier.
Exploring the historic evolution, the undermining role of Congress, military motherhood and the hot-topic issue of women serving in frontline combat roles, No Equal aims to inspire social and political awareness around a group that goes largely overlooked.
