Connect to the artwork in our galleries with New Art Center staff in a family focused environment through a scavenger hunt, a hands-on art activity and more!
Offered at no charge to educational, after-school and elder groups, the New Art Center provides a unique first-rate learning opportunity to discover contemporary art and develop visual literacy skills. Group leaders and New Art Center staff work together to develop targeted workshops for students to engage in thought-provoking activities geared to their levels, which connect a topic they are focusing on in their groups with the artwork on display in the New Art Center galleries.
Connections is designed to help students understand, think about and respond to art, applying what they have learned to diverse areas of education and everyday life. The resources of the New Art Center provide a rich educational setting for the exploration of visual concepts and art techniques. Art educators from the Center work in collaboration with teachers to develop classroom and gallery workshops, and engage students through in-depth discussion and innovative art making. The workshops are age appropriate, cross-disciplinary, and connected to subjects and themes addressed in the classroom. Educators, including those of students with special needs and specific areas of interest for their students, are welcome to request workshops.
