Whether you’re planning a career in the field or just want to add pictures to your own story, you can learn from a professional illustrator. This class will take you through the process of developing small sketches ("thumbnails") for a book. We’ll discuss pacing and unity, character and book design, choices of color palette, medium, and style. Bring a completed story; class time will be spent mostly on illustrations. RETURNING STUDENTS are welcome to continue their projects in the second 4 weeks of class. We'll talk about navigating the publishing market and how to make submissions, and, if time allows, create a finished sample illustration. Expect to do work at home.
