Pastels have escalated in popularity over the years with such famous artists as Edgar Degas and Mary Cassat using them for their finished works. In each lesson you will learn something about the history of the medium, the technical aspects of pastel, try techniques and develop your own style. We'll also discuss some of the most contemporary artists working in pastel. Please bring a box of 30 half-sicks of Rembrandt soft pastels, a pad of Canson Mi-Tients assorted paper at least 12" x 16", roll of masking tape (3/4 ") and a drawing board. A $5 materials fee will be collected at the first class. All levels welcome. No oil pastels.
