In an unnamed totalitarian state, a young writer becomes the subject of a police investigation when a series of child-murders, strangely reminiscent of his dark stories, begin to occur. As shocking truths are revealed throughout the investigation, the very idea of art and writing is brought center-stage, asking the audience to recognize a reality that can only be captured by fiction itself. This award-winning play by Martin McDonagh has been lauded as a "blindingly bright black comedy" (The New York Times), capturing both the brutal and tender nature of art.
