A festival with the American Chinese Art Society, local theatre and Paddlepalooza!

1. Historic Newton walk series. Join Historic Newton for a walk through 's campus. Hear more about the history of the land and what life was like back when it was purchased for Robert Gould Shaw II. The walk starts at 2 p.m. and those who are interested can meet in the Mount Ida parking lot on Carlson Avenue.
2. Heritage festival. The city of Newton holds "heritage festivals" on Sunday afternoons in July on the Newton Centre Green. Today's festival, which starts at 6:15 p.m., will feature the American Chinese Art Society.
3. Local theatre. The Circuit Theatre will present today at the . The show starts at 4:30 p.m. and tickets are $10 for general admission.

4. Paddlepalooza. Upstage Lung Cancer's Paddlepalooza will take place today and launch from the in Newton. The day includes a "leisurely paddle" down the Charles followed by a picnic lunch on the river bank and a paddle back to the boathouse. All the while, the event is raising money for lung cancer treatment and research. The event kicks off at 10 a.m.
