Five Things You Need to Know Today: July 30

A Fourth District debate, a bike ride and an Olympics event for local teens.

1. Minute to Win it Olympics. The will host a special Olympic event tonight for teens. The Minute to Win it Olympics is a contest where teens face challenges with everyday objects. The free event is open to teens in grades 6-12 and starts at 7 p.m.

2. Group bike rides. Bike Newton hosts a  Monday evenings at 6 p.m. that starts from the  and visits a number of scenic points around the city. The ride, which will be between 7-10 miles, is open to cyclists of all ages. Today's ride will feature a tour of Cordingly Dam. Children must be accompanied by an adult. 3. Fourth District Republican debate. The candidates vying for the Fourth Congressional District Republican nomination will debate tonight on NECN's Broadside with Jim Braude. The 30-minute debate will feature candidates Sean Bielat, Elizabeth Childs and David Steinhof. Tune in at 6 p.m. to catch the debate.

4. Urban Tree Commission. The Commission will meet tonight at 5 p.m. in room 203 at . Tonight's agenda includes discussion of review of the tree manual, Forestry Department budget issues as well as the status of NSTAR gas leaks. 

5. Transportation changes. Do you know about ? The changes, which have been in effect for about a month now, include expanded service to City Hall and the library.
