A special ceremony at City Hall, a foreign film and the first Friday farmers' market.

1. Post 440 farmers' market. Today is the first day for the Friday farmers' market at the on California Street. The market will run from noon - 5 p.m.

2. Dispatcher to be honored. After , a local dispatcher will be honored today at . Mayor Setti Warren will hold a special reception for the dispatcher in his office at 4 p.m.

3. Sept. 11 memorial fundraiser. The Newton 9-11 Memorial Committee has  to raise money for the future Newton Sept. 11 memorial. To purchase a one- to three-line engraved brick for the walkway to the memorial, call Sande Young at 617-527-1726 or email Ssyspts33@aol.com and fill out the brick form on the committee's website.

4. Foreign film. The features foreign films on Friday afternoons at 1 p.m. This afternoon's showing will feature the Italian film Gulia Does Not Date at Night.
