2. Pints for a Purpose. in Newton Upper Falls is holding running for Project Hope, the Alzheimer's Association, and Children's Hospital Boston. The entry fee is $20 and includes appetizers, wine tasting and live Irish music. There will also be a number of packages raffled off. The event starts at 5:30 p.m.

4. Greening Our Community Series. The will host another seminar in its Greening Our Community Series tonight at 7 p.m. Tonight's discussion, titled Growing Green: Ask the Experts about Organic Gardening and Landscaping, will include information on how to keep soil fertile, conserve water, prevent pest problems and grow tasty, home-grown food. The event is free and open to the public.
5. Music for Food benefit. The Carriage House Violins at 7 p.m. in the Carriage House facility on Chestnut Street in Upper Falls. The event will include appetizers, wine, music and a lecture on master violin makers. Tickets are $100 and 100 percent of the proceeds benefit the Greater Boston Food Bank.
