Five Things You Need to Know Today: May 7

A rabies clinic, a baseball game and a lot on the agenda for the Board of Aldermen.

1. CIP, water/sewer rate public hearings. The Newton Board of Aldermen will hold public hearings tonight for the city's water/sewer rates as well as the fiscal 2013 Capital Improvement Plan. The Board of Aldermen will also hold a regular meeting tonight. Everything gets started at 7 p.m. in the chamber at . 

2. Rabies clinic. A will be held today from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at Fire Station #3 on Willow Street in Newton Centre. There is a $10 fee and all cats or dogs are welcome. For a 3-year rabies vaccine, you must bring proof of previous vaccination.

3. Go Tigers! The boys' varsity baseball team will face Dedham High School in a home game today at 4:30 p.m. The game will take place at Albemarle Field.

4. It's Teacher Appreciation Week! Make sure you let your teachers know they are appreciated for all they do. National Teacher Day is tomorrow. 

5. Artists wanted. The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Jimmy Fund are looking for artists to help to create the organizations' 2012 Holiday Collection. Artists can submit artwork or photographic designs for a holiday card, candle wrap, or ornament to be sold during the holiday season as a fundraiser.
