Former Waban Kitchen Spot in Newton May Have New Tenant

According to Boston Restaurant Talk, a "coming soon" sign for a pizzeria has been posted to the front door of the shop.

NEWTON, MA – A Massachusetts pizzeria chain may be eyeing Newton's Waban neighborhood to open up a third location.

According to Boston Restaurant Talk, a source said Stone L'oven Pizza has a "coming soon" sign in the window of the space left vacant by Waban Kitchen. The restaurant's owner, Jeff Fournier, shut it down earlier this year – just a week before filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection for the now-closed 51 Lincoln in Newton Highlands.

Stone L'oven Pizza's Waban location would complete a Massachusetts trifecta for the company, which has locations in Canton and Brewster. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the restaurant offers a slew of stone-fired pizzas, as well as Italian staples such as pasta, calzones and paninis.
