Free Donuts In Newton For National Donut Day

Dunkin Donuts is offering a free classic donut if you buy a coffee. Anybody need a coffee?

NEWTON, MA — Did someone say "Free Donut" ? Why yes, yes they did. Today is National Doughnut Day, which it turns out is not a completely made up holiday. And in honor of it a number of companies are celebrating with free doughy goodness.

The Chicago Salvation Army established the "holiday" in 1938 to honor women who served donuts to soldiers during World War I. The holiday is traditionally celebrated on the first Friday of June, according to Dunkin' Donuts. And speaking of Dunks, they're into this holiday, as you can imagine and they seem to be the only spot in Newton celebrating.

If you pass through Brookline, you might want to head to Union Square Donuts for a one day special, or if you ever pass by one of the few Cumberland Farm convenience stores in the area, they are offering donut deals.

But Dunks has been into this holiday for the past six decades, a spokesperson said. So here's what today will look like for them:

Dunkin’ Donuts is offering guests a free classic donut of their choice (while supplies last) with the purchase of any beverage. The offer is good all day on June 2 in store and through On-the-Go Mobile Ordering at participating Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants nationwide.

Also, the fun doesn't stop there, folks. If you're on SnapChat you, too, can turn your face into a donut with a special brand Snapchat Lens celebrating the holiday. There's also a National Donut Day Snapchat Geofilter, available all day in or around all Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants. What more could a donut lover want?
