Gann Academy Celebrates Class of 2020 with Drive-in Commencement

WALTHAM—Gann Academy celebrated the class of 2020 with the school's first ever drive-in commencement ceremony on Sunday, June 14.

Head of School Dalia Hochman, Ph.D. presented diplomas to 66 graduating seniors.

The socially distant ceremony included a number of video presentations, as well as an invocation from Emma Sullaway ’20. Student speakers included Elijah Wiesman ’20 and Jesse Sivan ’20. Sivan delivered his remarks in Hebrew.

Hochman delivered the commencement address and spoke to the graduates about commitment to community. “You must feel obligated to the whole. We are obligated to repair the world—Tikkun Olam,” said Hochman. “Your spiritual, Jewish, emotional, and intellectual capacities know no limits. You are ready to enter the world at a time when we need your skills more than ever.”
