Have an Idea to Rezone Newton? Text It to the City

Starting next week, there will be 15 signs placed around the city asking questions about the Zoning Redesign project.

NEWTON, MA – Newton is in the midst of the City Council's Zoning Redesign project, and your input is just a text message away. Starting next week, 15 signs will be placed around the city asking questions about the project, which residents may reply to by text.

The ideas will be posted online so others can respond or "support" ideas.

The text system is an extension of the project website, which asked residents to answer the question, "What's great about Newton's buildings and use of space - and what could be better?" Ideas are spread across an interactive map of the city.

The 15 signs will ask questions pertaining to subjects the Zoning Ordinance typically regulates, such as buildings and use of land.

After texting a suggestion, you will receive a confirmation message and an invitation to follow the project online or by text. Those who don't have cell phones or do not wish to submit a comment via text may add a suggestion online here.
