Here's Where To Get Your Kids Vaccinated In Newton

First dose vaccine clinics for 5 to 11-year-olds will begin this weekend.

NEWTON, MA — Now that children ages 5 to 11 are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine, the Newton Health and Human Services Department has scheduled first and second dose pediatric Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine clinics.

The pediatric vaccine is a two-dose series given three weeks apart and at one-third the dose given to adults. The vaccine has proven to be safe and 91% effective in preventing COVID-19 in children, with the most common side effect being a sore arm.

The first dose clinics will be held at Newton North High School and Oak Hill Middle School on Saturday, Nov. 13 and Sunday, Nov. 14 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The second dose clinics will be held on Saturday, Dec. 4 and Sunday, Dec. 5 at the same locations. Clinics will be held at both locations simultaneously on both days and vaccines will be administered by the Holtzman Medical Group.

Newton will also host after school pediatric vaccine clinics, which are currently in the planning stages.
