How to Get Rid of Your Christmas Tree in Newton

The city will start collecting trees on Jan. 2.

NEWTON, MA – Another Christmas has come and gone, and now it's time to dispose of the tree before you're wading through pine needles to get to the kitchen.

In Newton, Christmas tree pickup will run from Jan. 2 until Jan. 17. Collection will be on your assigned recycling day only.

Residents are asked to place their tree out on the curb by 7 a.m. on your collection day. All decorations and lights must be removed and the tree may not be in a bag. Trees will not be collected after this time, but residents may wait until April and prepare the tree according to the city's yard waste guidelines.
