"The Importance of Being Earnest" by Oscar Wilde

Newton Theatre Company and Newton Nomadic Theater have joined forces on Oscar Wilde's beloved comedy, The Importance of Being Earnest.

Friday, June 3 & Saturday, June 4, 7:30pm

Newton Cultural Center at City Hall

Originally produced in 1895 London, this farcical comedy treats triviality of the utmost social importance, and “minor” themes such as marriage, education and morality as inconsequential matters. The results are a comedy of the highest order. Jack and Algy, two ne’er-do-well best friends, live double lives. They are upright citizens in certain social circles, and rascals under the same pseudonym of Ernest everywhere else! When their façade is discovered the fun really begins!
