KoKo Bakery Opens in Newton

The brainchild of Nobuko Maruyama brings French- and German-style breads, as well as tasty bakery staples, to the city.

NEWTON, MA – Newton said hello to its newest eatery last week, as KoKo Bakery quietly opened its doors on California Street.

First reported Monday by Boston Eater, the bakery announced its opening in a Facebook post August 16. The bakery specializes in French- and German-style breads, as well as bakery staples like scones, muffins, cake, brownies and doughnuts.

It also offers deli roll sandwiches, with an assortment of fillings ranging from ham to tuna.

According to Boston Eater, owner Nobuko Maruyama cut his teeth in French-style baking, having previously worked at several independent bakeries in the Boston area.

KoKo Bakery is located at 232L California St. in Newton.
