Lasell University Names New VP For Finance & Administration

NEWTON, MA — Newton’s Lasell University has named Dr. Derek Pinto its new Vice President for Finance and Administration.

In his new position, Pinto will oversee Lasell’s Business Office, Information Technology, Administration & Operations, and serve as Chief Financial Officer for both Lasell and Lasell Village, the senior living residence on campus.

Pinto’s professional experience includes positions with multi-national companies in the technology and consumer goods industries. He also has an expansive resume within the education sector, with 15 years of administrative experience and six years as a classroom teacher. Pinto comes to Lasell from Laney College in Oakland California.

“Derek brings a unique background and valuable experience to Lasell,” said President Michael Alexander in a statement. “Given his work in the fields of business and education, we know he will make tremendous contributions to the Lasell community.”

Pinto holds two bachelor’s degrees from York University in Toronto, an MBA from McGill University in Montreal, and a master's degree and doctorate in education from California State University, San Bernadino.
