Local Man Arrested for OUI After Car Flips, Stolen Bernie Sanders Magnet and More From the Newton Crime Log

Monday, Feb. 20
• Police responded to the 1100 block of Washington Street for a stolen motor vehicle. The caller said the company van was stolen from the rear lot on Dunstan Street sometime between 5 p.m. on Feb. 18 and 8 a.m. on Feb. 20. While entering the van as stolen, police were able to locate it on Wiswall Street. The caller said an industrial dehumidifier and floor blower/dryer were missing.

Tuesday, Feb. 21
• Mark Shuster, 62, of Newton was arrested and charged with an OUI. Police responded to Gate House Road for a report of a vehicle flipped onto its side. Police said a moderate odor of alcohol could be detected on Shuster's breath. He was taken into custody.

• A woman reported larceny and damage to her car after noticing a Bernie Sanders magnet was stolen from the trunk door. She told police she was inside a store on Boylston Street and noticed the magnet was missing when she came out. She also said the rear left quarter panel had been keyed. The damage was approximately 5 inches in length.
• Police responded to the Boston Ballroom Dance Center for a report of vandalism. The caller said someone had graffitied the sign facing California Street.
