Local Man Assaulted Cop Then Urinated All Over Jail Cell, Newton Police Say

Wed., Sept. 10

  • A woman on Docar Road said someone broke into her vehicle but didn’t take anything.
  • A Samsung Galaxy phone was reportedly stolen from the AT&T store on Needham Street.
  • A residence was broken into on Algonquin Road but nothing was stolen.
  • Officers responded to a residence on Centre Street for a disturbance and found three people outside with a kitchen knife on the front steps. David Proia, 47, of 540 Centre St., Newton, was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon. Also arrested was Michael Goddard, 52, of 90 Beacon St., Waltham. Goddard was charged with assault and battery with a knife, assault and battery with a sneaker, threatening, assault and battery on a police officer, and defacing property. Goddard allegedly urinated in his cell and spit everywhere, according to a police log entry.
