Man Accused Of Breaking Into Car Arrested: Newton Police Logs

So far this year there's been one report of rape, several break ins and an indecent assault, according to police data.

NEWTON, MA — In the last week before the new year someone reported a rape, but so in 2019 one report of an assault, two burglaries or breaking and entering, one report of a shoplifting, one theft from a car and one other larceny. There have been more than two dozen crashes, including one that involved a pedestrian. [This article has been updated].

Tuesday, Jan. 1

It's After Midnight: Someone called police to report a party was continuing too loudly after midnight on North Street.

Assault: Someone called at 4:42 a.m. to report an assault at the Newton Wellesley Hospital.

Happening now: Police responded to a report of someone possibly breaking into a home or a car on Adams Avenue in the middle of the afternoon.

Wednesday, Jan. 2

Suspicious: At 6:46 a.m. police responded to a report of a suspicious incident on Merrill Road.

Overdose: Someone reported an overdose on Grove Street near the Riverside MBTA.

Happening now: Someone called to report a possible break in happening now.

Thursday, Jan 3

Suspicious: Two calls came in reporting suspicious incidents, including one at 1:04 a.m. on Troy Lane and another at 5:21 on Clark Street.

Break in: Just after 3 p.m. someone reported a break in on Centre Street.

Indecent: At 5:05 p.m. police responded to a report of an indecent exposure on Boylston Street at Milton's.


Friday, Jan 4

Lock your car and don't leave valuables in them: Police responded to the area of 2150 Washington St. at the Northland building for a report of someone breaking into a car. While police were on their way Newton Dispatch told police the suspect ran westbound on Washington Street toward Wellesley. A citizen followed him and saw him run down Walnut Street, which turns into Wales Street in Wellesley. Newton and Wellesley police converged on the area. A suspect matching the description was stopped and detained by Wellesley Police.

Police arrested Tyrone Brimage, 22, of Dorchester who will be charged with B&E Motor Vehicle, Felony.

Vandalism: A Weldon Road resident reported someone keyed the entire driver's side of his 2009 Mini Cooper. He opined that it either happened while it was parked in front of the Boston Sports Club on Washington Street or in his driveway.

Shoplifting: An employee at Whole Foods Market reported a shoplifter.

Break in: Someone reported a break in on Beecher Place at 3:29 p.m.

Saturday, Jan. 5

Break in: Someone reported something was getting broken into near Auburndale Playground.

Suspicious Person: Police responded to a report of a suspicious person on Dorset Road.

Hit and Run: Police responded to a crash on Bellevue Street where one car left the scene.

Sunday, Jan. 6

Larceny: An Upland Avenue resident called to report that during the past two days someone stole a Lowe's motion sensor light he had installed on a tree in front of his house.

Dogs: Someone else on Upland Avenue called to report a dog was unleashed.

Fire: An alarm came in after 8 p.m. about a structure fire on Orchard Avenue.
