Man Allegedly Stabbed With a Pair of Scissors, Beer Bottle Assault, OUI Charge After Wall Crash: Newton Crime Log

Friday, Nov. 25

• Police responded to the Verizon store at 13 Boylston St. for a reported break-in. Police said a suspect described as a white male with dark colored hair and a bald spot, wearing a short-sleeved blue Patriots shirt with "New England on the chest," blue jeans, green gloves and carrying a white plastic bag came from the west of the parking lot in front of the store. He appeared to kick the front door, spidering the glass, then moved to the window to the left and broke it. He entered the store and walked directly to the area where the Bose speakers are kept. According to police, he appeared as if he was placing items into the bag. He then left through the broken window, heading west. A look a the inventory indicated three Bose color speakers were stolen and one UE Boom speaker was stolen.

Saturday, Nov. 26

• Police were called to the Bloomingdale's on Boylston Street for a shoplifting in progress. Robin Williams, 34, of Brooklyn, NY, was arrested and charged with larceny over $250, aggravated shoplifting and possession of a theft detecting shielding device.

• Alexei Kouvchinov, 60, of Framingham, was arrested after police responded to a report of a man stabbed by a pair of scissors inside a laundry room on Tremont Street. Based on statements made at the scene, Kouvchinov was taken into custody and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and threatening to commit a crime.

Sunday, Nov. 27

• Police were dispatched to Court Street for a reported assault and battery involving a beer bottle. Neil Charles Bass, 40, of Newton, was arrested and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

• Police responded to Adams Avenue for a report of a past breaking and entering to a motor vehicle. There were no signs of forced entry and the caller did not notice anything missing, save for some loose change.

• A 26-year-old Wellesley man was arrested after police responded to Washington Street for a report of a vehicle crashing into a wall. Police said they did not see any skid marks near the intersection, and it appeared the car drove across the side of the road from the westbound to eastbound lane before jumping off the road onto the sidewalk and driving into a stone wall. There was major damage to the vehicle. The man was charged with operating under the influence of alcohol, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, marked lanes violation and open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.

Monday, Nov. 28

• Police responded to a reported fight in progress at the Dunkin' Donuts on Langley Road. A 19-year-old man was arrested, and police will seek charges of assault and battery.
