Man Struck By D Train In Newton

A man was struck by a D line train Monday night near the Waban station and received 'life-threatening injuries,' according to transit police

NEWTON, MA — Monday evening a man was struck by the D train as it was approaching the Waban Station in Newton Monday and he was taken to the hospital for his life threatening injuries, the Massachusetts Transit Police said in a statement Tuesday.

Transit Police officers got the call about the person struck by the train around 9:15 p.m. Oct. 9. and responded along with Newton fire and EMS to the Green Line.

According to the preliminary information a man appeared to come out suddenly into the tracks as the Green train's D line train was approaching Waban Station and was hit. Police said they didn't suspect foul play, but the matter is still under investigation.

No word on his condition.
