Man Uses Wooden Stake In Fight At The Tire Shop: Newton Police

What happened this weekend in Newton.

NEWTON, MA — This weekend there were more reports of copper piping gone missing, an arrest of a man who was found sleeping in his running car near an intersection and an incident where a man hit another guy with a wooden stake. Here's a sample of the types of calls the Newton Police responded to this weekend. It's important to note that just because someone reports an incident to police, doesn't mean it happened quite that way.

Saturday, April 7

Copper pipes again: The Woodland Country Club on Washington Street reported their copper drain pipes were stolen. Then the Newton Congregational Church on Lincoln Street also reported stolen copper drain pipes.

Drunk in the car: Watertown Police let Newton Police know that a driver had fallen asleep in his running car near the corner of Bridge and California streets. An officer woke the driver up and asked when he did, smelled booze, noted the driver had slightly slurred speech, and glassy, bloodshot eyes. They placed the man, Connor Scott Harris, 25 of Newton under arrest for OUI.
