Medical Marijuana Shop Opens in Newton

NEWTON, MA – A medical marijuana shop opened in Newton Tuesday, the city's first since the passage of medical marijuana legislation in 2012.

Garden Remedies, located at 697 Washington St., celebrated the opening with the apropos cutting of a green ribbon. According to the Newton TAB, the dispensary is the ninth medical marijuana shop to open in Massachusetts.

Garden Remedies' opening comes a week after voters legalized recreational marijuana use with the passage of Question 4.

The dispensary only caters to Massachusetts residents who have registered with the state and already been prescribed by a physician, the TAB reported.
