Missing Pool Pump, Suitcases, Juveniles Charged With Stealing Bike: Newton Crime

Tuesday, August 9

• Police responded to Philmore Road for a report of a past larceny. The caller said earlier that day she left three large blue lightweight suitcases in her front yard to air out, one of which she placed her pool pump inside to weigh down. She said she last saw the suitcases outside at approximately 2 p.m. At 3:45, she noticed two of them, along with the pool pump, had gone missing.

Wednesday, August 10

• A car was reported broken into between July 27 and July 28. The caller reported no items taken from the vehicle.

• At around 4:09 p.m., police responded to the area of Park and Tremont streets for a theft of a bicycle. A resident of Park Street told police he was following two individuals who had just stolen a bicycle out of his garage. The officer stopped two juveniles from Boston, 17 and 14 years old, matching the description provided by the caller. The juveniles will me summonsed for breaking and entering in the daytime for a felony and larceny over $250.
