John Corbett failed to register as a sex offender after being convicted of raping a woman at knifepoint in her Newton home two decades ago.

NEWONT, MA — A man convicted of raping a woman at knifepoint in her Newton home two decades was arrested in Mexico late last week after failing to register as a sex offender. State Police said John Corbett, 61, was on their Most Wanted Sex Offenders list for over a year before being picked up Friday in Guanajuato Friday.
Corbett, a Level 3 Sex Offender, was wanted on a warrant out of Newton District Court for failing to register as a sex offender, which is required by law.
Corbett was convicted in 1990 for aggravated rape, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and breaking and entering. Police said he broke into a Newton residence in May 1989 and sexually assaulted a woman at knifepoint.
