Music for Food: All-Bach Concert Benefits Newton Food Pantries

A Celebrity All-Bach Concert to benefit Newton’s four food pantries is being held on Monday, Dec 21, at 7 p.m. at Wilson Chapel, Andover Newton Theological School in Newton Center.

Music for Food partners with the Mayor’s Office for Cultural Affairs Office and Newton Community Pride to present this one-of-a-kind concert.

This show unites outstanding musicians familiar to Boston-area audiences: Lucy Chapman (violin), Guy Fishman (cello), Kim Kashkashian (viola), Ian Watson (harpsichord), and James Winn (flute), along with friends joining in for part of the program as special guests.

The program includes the “Trio Sonata” from Bach’s Musical Offering, the ”G major viola da gamba sonata” arranged for string trio, and Chapman’s own arrangement of the A minor solo violin sonata. It was curated by Lucy Chapman.

Music for Food is a musician-led initiative for local hunger relief that sets forth a model applicable in every community. Concerts raise resources and awareness in the fight against hunger, empowering all musicians who wish to use their artistry to further social justice.
