New Burn Boot Camp Gym to Open in Newton

Burn Boot Camp is more than a simple gym say owners; it focuses on empowerment of women.

NEWTON, MA - A new fitness center is coming to Newton. Burn Boot Camp is “a lifestyle fitness facility that inspires, empowers, and transforms the lives of busy women and their families,” according to their Facebook description.

Burn Boot Camp offers 45-minute high-intensity workouts along with free childcare and one-on-one meetings with a head trainer.

The trainers say they strive for exciting, packed, unique workouts. Additionally, they strive to build an environment where women motivate each other and work to get better each day.

The Beginning

Christine D’Amico, owner of Newton’s upcoming Burn Boot Camp, grew up identifying as an athlete. She played many sports, including softball throughout college. After graduation, she struggled to find a fitness routine that worked with her 9-5 work schedule.

She said her lack of motivation and the need for something more challenging led her to try some fitness classes. It was there that she discovered what she was passionate about.

“The energy of the class, the group feel, all brought me back to those days [as an athlete],” she said. “It’s easy to slack off when you’re working out alone but when you see everyone else giving 100% it makes you want to push yourself more,” she added.

Confidence in the gym led to confidence outside the gym. She realized capturing this for others was what she wanted to dedicate her life to. So, she put her business major and passion for fitness together and Newton’s Burn Boot Camp was born.

Why Burn Boot Camp?

D’Amico chose Burn Boot Camp as her starting point largely due to their philosophy, which struck a chord with her. This philosophy stresses living a healthy lifestyle, building confidence, and creating a positive mindset.

“The body won’t go where the mind won’t push it,” said D’Amico.

Burn Boot Camp is a national franchise with more than 300 locations. Anyone can apply to open a Burn Boot Camp fitness facility as D’Amico did.

Another positive aspect she found is the gym’s culture and supportive, high-energy environment. She says Burn Boot Camp trainers want people at any fitness level to feel welcome and encouraged. They purposely avoid creating a competitive, intimidating environment.

“Competition should only be with oneself to do better than before,” said D’Amico.

Why Newton?

When registering to become a Burn Boot Camp gym owner, D’Amico had to list 3 potential locations for the gym. Newton was the number one spot on the list.

“It felt like a second home to me” D’Amico said. While growing up, she spent much of her time in Newton and loves how it’s a family town. Her Burn Boot Camp gym will be located on the ever-growing Needham Street near Landry’s Bicycles and T-Mobile.

A Growing Community

In the past few weeks, Burn Boot Camp has hosted several free pop-up workouts in the lead-up to the official opening. Not only is it a chance to get a taste of the workout, but it is a chance to get involved in the growing fitness community.

“It’s nice to see the bonding and to see people continuing to come back,” D’Amico said, adding she has seen people hanging out after class, exchanging contact info, and getting to know each other.

Some women who have been participating in the workouts have already seen physical changes, she added.

“To know we’re making a difference already and we’re not even open...we’re really excited about that,” she said.

Save the Date

There is one final pop-up workout and an Orientation Party before the official opening, which is Feb. 26.

At orientation, people will be able to tour the gym, meet the trainers, win prizes, and get to learn more about Burn Boot Camp’s philosophy.

There are also plenty of deals to get excited about. For the first full month of the gym’s opening, Burn Boot Camp is offering 30 days of free membership for $30. Their regular pricing will be announced in the near future, and there will be different pricing options available.
