New Coffee Shop To Open In Newton Centre

Galit's an Israeli bakery that will serve coffee will be opening soon.

NEWTON, MA — In case you missed it, Sweet Tart, which served frozen yogurt for about five years in Newton Centre right next to Bills Pizza, closed. But in March a sign went up in the window that a Israeli treats and baked goods spot was going in. And this month renovations in the space appear all but complete. Galit's is slated to open soon.

The new coffee and treats shop will join the likes of Pete's, Dunkin, and Starbucks. What sets Galit's apart? Israeli style baking goods. Galit's Treats with Love Bakery has served Jewish and Israeli pastries at reasonable prices out of a home for the past two years, according to its Facebook page. Now, they're opening up a brick and mortar shop - complete with kees van der westen style coffee machine.

And they're hiring two part-time baristas.
