Newton Breaks Ground on New Fire Station
The city will build a new Station 3 and renovate its fire headquarters.

NEWTON, MA – The City of Newton Wednesday broke ground on its new fire station at 31 Willow St., the future home of Station No. 3.
Newton is completely overhauling Station No. 3, as well as renovating its fire headquarters at 1164 Centre St. The city demolished the former Station No. 3 earlier this year, and will construct an entirely new structure on Willow.
According to the project website, the new facility will have five drive-through bays with firefighter quarters above; a watch room and "fire-matic" support spaces; an Emergency Operations Center; a back-up dispatch; and an elevator connecting Station No. 3 to the headquarters.

In addition, renovations to the headquarters include a revised floor plan, updated mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems and revitalized interior finishes. The building will continue to house the Newton Fire Department's Administration and Fire Prevention offices upon completion.
