Newton Businesses Collaborate With Pop Ups For Holiday Season

On Sunday, Dec. 19, many Newton Centre businesses will welcome local pop up shops inside their stores.

NEWTON, MA —Newton Centre businesses will collaborate with twelve new pop up shops on Sunday, Dec. 19 to boost holiday sales and community spirit.

During the event, which will take place from 12 to 4 p.m., many of Newton Centre’s brick and mortar businesses will welcome a diverse group of startup businesses, artists, and artisans into their stores for a festive shopping experience that can’t be found anywhere else.

“It’s a win for everyone,” said event organizer Lauren Berman of ALL Over Newton, in a statement. “It brings shoppers into Newton’s small businesses, which are still rebounding from COVID’s impact and confronting challenges of supply, labor, and inflation. It gives local trend-setting entrepreneurs and talented artists exposure. And it brings the community together for an afternoon of fun and festive holiday shopping.”

The participating pop up shops, including Kiko's Coffee & Tea, Claudia Doherty Paintings, and Better Life Foods, are owned by local artists and entrepreneurs, many with dreams of opening their own shops.

“It’s such a great opportunity to collaborate with local brick-and-mortar businesses to offer curated products perfect for holiday gifting,” said Elsa Fong, owner of The Elchemist, who will pop up at the Nearby Gallery on Union Street. “We love the fact that we can showcase our handcrafted bath and body products and connect with community members. And for local businesses, it’s a great way to inject a little holiday flair into their locations.”
