Newton Cop Log: Gun, Leaf Blowers, Safe Stolen

Mon., Sept. 8

• Jonathan Payne, a 23-year-old homeless man, was charged with larceny after allegedly stealing a safe from a home on Christina Street. The safe had cash, jewelry, and car keys in it, the owner said.
• A woman said her laptop was stolen from her Jeep on Hunnewell Avenue.
• Roman Volostnykh, 26, of Newton, was arrested on warrants for drug possession and motor vehicle violations.

Tue., Sept. 9

• A man said his car was broken into on Elliot Memorial Memorial Drive. The thief stole a pair of Ray Ban sunglasses.
• Two backpack leaf blowers and a loading ramp were stolen from a trailer on Newtonville Avenue.
• An 18-year-old from Newton was charged with stealing a gun from a residence on Washington Street.
