Newton Cop Log: Sleepy Man Found with Large Amount of Heroin, Stolen Recycling Bin, Driver Finds Car on Milk Crates

Thur., Sept. 4

• A bicycle was stolen at the Newton Center T station.
• A 42-year-old man from Newton was charged with possession of heroin, alprazolam, and gabapentin. He was arrested after police received a call at about 6 p.m. saying he was sitting on a bench on Ash Street and looked like he may not b breathing. An officer was dispatched to the scene and talked to the man, who fell asleep and would not respond to the officer’s questions. A sizable amount of heroin was found on him and he was charged with intent to distribute the drug.
• A vehicle was stolen on Fairlee Road.
• A resident of Bowers Street said someone stole his recycling bin.
• A resident of Orchard Street said someone stole the tires and rims from his vehicle. When he woke up in the morning, he found the vehicle on milk crates.
