Newton Cop Log: Man Tries to Steal 99 Gift Cards from Wegmans; Drunk Men Refuse to Pay Cab Driver; Vehicle Break-Ins
The following are excerpts from the Newton police log. An arrest or charge does not indicate a conviction.

Thur., Oct. 23
- A taxi driver called police from the Crowne Plaza hotel, saying a pair of drunk men refused to pay their fare. The men finally used a credit card to pay, ending the dispute.
- A man reported someone tried to break into his 2008 Cadillac on West Street by trying to break the sun roof.
- A vehicle break-in was reported on Prentice Road.
- Another vehicle break-in was reported on Prentice Road.
- A vehicle break-in was reported on Grant Avenue.
- A vehicle break-in was reported on Locksley Road.
- A vehicle break-in was reported on Central Street.
- A 76-year-old man from Framingham was barred from Wegmans after trying to steal 99 gift cards and a “mousse truffle” product. Management declined to press charges. The cards had no value because they weren’t activated yet. The man was banned from all Wegmans stores for two years.
Fri., Oct. 24
- A vehicle break-in was reported on Fellsmere Road.
