Newton Festival of the Arts: Weekend Includes The Nomad Story Slam

The monthlong celebration of arts in Newton continues.

Newton’s Festival of the Arts, a monthly celebration of arts and entertainment in Newton, continues this weekend by digging into stories, dance and theatre.

On Thursday, May 21, it’s “Newton’s Notable Authors,” which are Anita Diamant, Bill Novak, William Landay and Neil Swidey, joining for a panel discussion, reception and wine at the Showcase SuperLux at The Street at Chestnut Hill.

On Friday, May 22, the Nomad Story Slam takes place at Gregorian Rugs. This unique concept invites participants to share their stories, with this week’s theme, “A Long Way From Home.”

The Family Creative Dance Workshop: Plants and Movement takes place on Saturday at the Historic Newton Durant-Kenrick House and Grounds from 10-11 a.m. Also Saturday, at 7:30 p.m., the Beauty Queen of Leeane takes place at the Newton Nomadic Theater at the Auburndale Community Library.
