3-Alarm Fire in Newton Thursday

The Newton Fire Department spent Thursday afternoon battling a three-alarm blaze on Washington Street.

NEWTON, MA – A three-alarm fire in Newton was brought under control Thursday afternoon, the Newton Fire Department said.

The blaze was reported at 1839 Washington Street in the third floor and attic, according to the department.

The fire resulted in several street closures in the area, including Washington Street between Beacon Street and Commonwealth Avenue and the ramp from Route 128 northbound to Exit 21.
