Newton Food Pantry Seeking Volunteers For September
The food pantry has positions that involve unloading, bagging, delivering, and distributing food and personal care items.
NEWTON, MA â Newton Food Pantry, the city's oldest and largest food pantry, is currently seeking volunteers to help with distribution on Wednesdays starting in September.
The food pantry is a 100% volunteer-based organization and has positions that involve unloading, bagging, delivering, and distributing food and personal care items. Volunteers must be age 13 or older and is a great opportunity for older kids who need community service hours.
According to Newton Food Pantry organizers, over one-third of the nonprofit's clients are children under the age of 18 and many are elderly. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, one in five families with children are food insecure.
