Newton Medical Marijuana Facility Approved

Newton officials on Monday gave their blessing to a new medical marijuana facility.

Garden Remedies will open at 697 Washington St. in Newtonville.

Village 14 reported Aldermen granted a special permit for the project in a 21-2 vote.

Karen Munkacy, CEO of Garden Remedies, is an anesthesiologist and breast cancer survivor who lives in Newton. She said her store will have 10-15 workers and sell marijuana that’s shipped in from outside the city. This is the building the business will be located in:

The Newton facility is one of about a dozen medical marijuana dispensaries across the state that have won approval and are scheduled to open in the coming months.
