
The Newton North boys’ and girls’ track teams both won the MIAA Division 1 championship on Monday, reported The Boston Globe.
The boys finished with 82 points and beat out Newton South, which finished with 76 points. The girls, meanwhile, racked up 65 points to win their fourth straight title.
Newton North’s Michaela Smith won the shot put with a distance of 41 feet and 2 inches, which was a school record. Newton North’s Mike Schlichting won the 2-mile in 9:26.

Newton South also saw success. Newton South’s Ben Eisenberg won the pole vault at 13-6 and Ryan Kim won the discus at 161.
