Newton Pedestrian Killed Along Auburndale Commuter Rail Track: Reports
UPDATE: The MBTA said train service resumed on Tuesday afternoon after shuttles were used between Wellesley and Boston earlier in the day.

NEWTON, MA â A pedestrian was killed in a commuter rail train strike in Newton late Tuesday morning.
Multiple media reports said the pedestrian died following the strike that spurred severe delays and a lengthy police presence in the Auburndale section of the city.

The MBTA was using shuttle buses between Wellesley and Boston Landing early Tuesday afternoon.
The MBTA said that as of about 12:45 p.m., reduced-speed service had resumed on one track getting through the area but that continued delays were expected and police remained on the scene in the right of way.

Full service resumed as of about 2 p.m.
A Patch inquiry on the police activity on the pedestrian strike was referred to the Middlesex County District Attorney's Office, which is handling the investigation.
