Newton Police: Break-In to Barber Shop, iPhone Repair; Stolen Wallet

The following was supplied by the Newton Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Incidents, June 27

  • A person visited police headquarters to report that a larceny occurred the day before. She said she parked her car on Webster Street by the playground from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. When she got back to her car, she noticed someone had taken off the glass mirror portion to her mirror. There didn’t appear to be any damage to the mirror, suggesting that it was taken off by another car driving past it.
  • Police took a report of a larceny that happened at the 80 block of Walnut Street. A resident said that he left a 28 foot extension ladder on his front porch and somebody came onto the porch and stole it. The ladder was aluminum.
  • Police responded to Stephen Place for a report of motor vehicle damage by egging. A man said that sometime between June 26 at 7:30 p.m. and the following day, his Mercedes was egged in his driveway.
  • Police took a repot of a past larceny of a wallet. A woman said that the previous day, she was inside the store Athleta on Boylston Street. The store was not very busy and she put her bag down on the counter while trying on a jacket. She thought her husband was watching the bag, but he stepped outside for a moment. They believe somebody inside the store took her wallet out of the tote bag, which was unzipped. Inside the bag was cash, a license, and multiple credit cards. The cards were used fraudulently.

Incidents, June 29

  • At 11:53 a.m., it was reported that someone broke into the barber shop at the basement level at 212 Sumner St. Cash was missing. The iPhone Repair Co. was also broken into.
