Newton Police: Break-In to the Bubble Coin; Strange Burn Circle on Lawn
The following are excerpts from the Newton police log. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Incidents, Oct. 1
- Police responded to Old Orchard Road for a report of past breaking and entering. The resident said the back door had been broken into and several items were missing. Several of the closets upstairs had been gone through and some jewelry had been taken, as well as a lap top and two Macs. The front door was unlocked, which had been locked when she left int he morning. The house was vacant between 10:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.
- Police responded to 971 Washington St., Bubble Coin Laundry, for a past breaking and entering into the building. Sometime during the night, someone had pulled open the back door and cut the coin changing machine and soap dispensing machine. The owner said that both machines were full of money the day before.
- Police arrested Ella Mataev, 26, 35 Jaconnet, Newton, and she was charged with possession with intent to distribute Class B substance, possession of Class B substance, and unlicensed operation
- Police took a report from a victim who said his front lawn was damaged by an unknown substance. The lawn had a 10-foot round circular pattern of dead grass, and it appeared that someone may have poured Roundup on it. His lawn was flawless except for this spot. He doesnât know who might have done such a thing.
- Police responded to Needham Street (Avalon Apartments) to a rear driveway for a report of damage to a vehicle. The car was keyed. The man said his car was parked overnight. It had three key scratches on the driverâs side front, driverâs side door and passenger door.
Incidents, Oct. 2
- Police responded to Watertown Street for a report of a suspicious party. While on the way, police were advised that a second complaint came in from Davis Ave. for another suspicious party. When police arrived at Davis Ave. at Eden Ave., they spotted a person at the entrance to Davis speaking with another resent. Fransiquito Hechavarria, 31, 500 Halfway Boulevard 231, New Bedford, was arrested and charged with peddling door to door. He also had four default warrants out of New Bedford.
