Newton Police: Break-In on Foxhill Road; Graffiti of 'Hateful Nature' at Newton Community Center

The following are excerpts from the Newton police log. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Incidents, Aug. 14

  • Police responded to Foxhill Road for a report of a break into a residence. The resident said he left his residence around 7 a.m. and came home at 7 p.m., when he noticed the back door open with the frame broken. Nothing was reported missing or damaged.
  • Police responded to the area of West Newton Cinema for a report of a male party who had thrown a water bottle at a passing vehicle. The victim said she was making a left turn onto Chestnut Street from Washington Street when this male wearing green shorts walked across the street extremely slowly. The driver gave a blast on her horn to let him know traffic was building up behind her, at which point the person threw a water bottle at the side of her BMW. It caused minor scratches to the passenger’s side front door.
  • Police took a report of vandalism at 492 Waltham St., The Newton Community Center. The reporting person said he was walking outside at the basketball court in the rear of the building and noticed several markings of graffiti, all of a hateful nature in chalk.
  • Police responded to a report of vandalism to a vehicle at 500 Block Comm. Ave. on the previous evening. When the owner went to her car, she noticed a bottle had been thrown at the rear window.
